Map to where we are!

Purveyors of fine food and drink since 1969

The Roundabout Inn (Balloch) Ltd was first registered as a company by Mr Archie Hagen and his partner Mr Hugh Ryan (Ryan & Hagen Builders). At the time the business was a very busy pub which consisted of a public bar, a lounge, a snug and a function suite.

Mr Archie Hagen became sole owner of the Roundabout Inn around the mid 1970 s and from that time the family have been heavily involved in the day to day running. Over the years we have had many transformations, which have always been in response to the way we see the business moving and the needs within the local community changing.

When a lot of the work in the area disappeared so did the old days of the pub trade. It is interesting to note that in the 1970 s bar meals meant a hot pie and peas if you were lucky. The brave decision to move into the food trade was made. The family put their suggestions for a name in a hat and The Stables was pulled out hence The Stables Restaurant was born.

By the early eighties the restaurant had already started to achieve the desired market and has continued to go from strength to strength, so much so that the service we provide is now almost all restaurant service with only a small percentage of the takings coming from bar sales.

Our present appearance is a split area 7o covers restaurant with a seperate private party room which is ideal for groups from 20 to 80. There is also a comfortable chill out area for coffees and refreshments. The original function suite is now two residential flats for which planning permission for change of use to six bed and breakfast units has just been granted. We want to take our time developing these and look into all areas of energy efficiency and green issues to make this a project that we are proud of and which will do everything currently possible to help our environment This will turn us into a restaurant with rooms. How exciting!

Our vision for the business is to keep increasing our turnover while keeping our standards high.

We are delighted to hold a Taste of Scotland accolade and have moved the company through the Investors in People standards.

I hope this information gives you an idea of what we are about and we look forward to chatting with you on your visit to the stables.
